In March this year I did my first ‘proper’ half marathon; the first ever Warwick half marathon.
Considering it was my first, I was ecstatic with my time of 1:52:15 (especially as my target was to just finish and to say that I completed it without dying!)
I was so proud of myself, I even made myself a certificate to look back on (there wasn’t an official certificate given out, which was annoying, although this has apparently been changed for 2014.)
Because of the event’s success it has been confirmed for a 2014 run (pun intended) and I’m delighted to say that I have signed up to run once again.
I didn’t collect any sponsorship money for this year’s event as I did to to test myself personally (which it most certainly did, I can tell you!) However I am going to raise money for The British Heart Foundation next year and it would be brilliant if I could surpass my goal of £150.

Here’s ‘Mr. Ridiculously Photogenic Guy’ making his second appearance on my blog, obviously to prove I’m more photogenic when I’m running than he is. Obviously.

Doing the Cheltenham Half Marathon next sunday – like you just finishing is the aim!
Really good luck! The sense of achievement when you do finish is absolutely immense! Is this your first one too?
Yep – final long run this morning – just want to get on with it now!
I bet! Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
Cheers – will do
How did it go in the end?
Sorry forgot to tell you – got round in about two hours! Chuffed to bits
Ah awesome! Congratulations!
Cheers have you run yours yet?
No, not yet. Mine isn’t until March next year. Although this year, I WILL do some training!!
How did you find the race on Sunday?
I ran as well, and thoroughly enjoyed the event in that perverse sort of way that you enjoy half marathons! First half mostly uphill, second half mostly downhill.
Signed up for next year yet?
I found it really good, thanks. Shaved 21 seconds off last year’s efforts to grab a new PB but having finished I felt I’d knocked a couple of minutes off of it, but at the end of the day a PB is a PB.
No, not yet. But rest assured I will be! Are you?
