Comedy, General me.

Using social media to announce a haircut. Yes, really.

I know what you’re thinking. How can you write an entire blog post on something as simple as a haircut?

For the last three years, I have allowed my hair to grow. And by grow, I mean grow long. Past shoulder-length.

I have been tying it up in some form of bun every day for the last three years and it just got boring. (YAWN!)

So Dave sorted me out with what the kids call a fresh trim.

It’s safe to say that there’s been a very positive reaction to the said fresh trim.

It does feel weird though. It’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, quite literally. But I still woke up the next day and had that split second panic when I autonomously went to tie my hair up AND IT WAS ALL GONE!

From this length

… to this!

Such a change also provided me with an excellent opportunity to create some mystery on social media.

After posting an image of a cut off ponytail (I wish I’d done this myself in the barber’s!) on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat the reactions came flooding in. He hadn’t!? He couldn’t!? Surely not!

‘Like’ after ‘like’ – well 20 to be exact, which is very popular for me, set off my notifications.

But best of all – I had SEVEN missed phone calls from my twin sister to check if I’d really cut my hair in time for her wedding in August after I’d been teasing her that I’d be plaiting my hair even more than she would be on the day!

Many people have never known me without my manbun or top knot (which ever you would like to call it) so this is a chance for everyone to see a brand new me.

Just above the comments box are five little grey stars and I’d really appreciate if you turned some of them yellow (preferably all five!) and used it to rate this blog as a quick visual way to let me know which of my posts you are enjoying more than others.
